The vampires

The myth:

The myth spread in Europe in the XIVth century during a period of plague. Gilles of Rais and Vlad Tepes were big criminals in the XVth century. The vampire comes out at night to feed upon the humans by sucking their blood.

 The characteristic of a vampire:

A vampire has got long finger nails, fangs, a white shirt, a cape, he is agressive and evil.

He can disappear and turn into a bat, a rat, a cat.

He can't enter in a house exept when he is the guest. He must sleep in a coffin during the day. He lives in a castle. He has no family.

He hates garlic, holy crosses, crucifixes, holy water, mirors and silver.

He likes blood, women, night and darkness.

He hasn't got a shadow and he hasn't got a reflection in a miror.

There are many books, films and series on vampires.

 I-Adaptations filmiques

 INTRODUCTION :

 They are many adaptation of Dracula at the cinema.

The first adaptation was Nosferatu by F.W Murnau in 1922.

DETAIL :

 1. The Dracula in Nosferatu is ugly, pale and stocky. He has got long pointy ears, dark eyes and long fingernails. His super abilities are that he can go very fast, he's very strong and discreet. His weak point is the crucifixes.

 2. The Dracula interpreted by Bela Lugosi is realistical, more handsome, he can talk and he is elegant (cape,sunt). His super abilities are that he can hypnotyze his victims. He's also more seductive. His weak point is the crucifixes and his ennemy is Van Helsing.

 3. The Dracula interpreted by Christopher Lee is terryfing: more violent and agressive.The music is funereal, eerie, continuous and fast. Other detail: he has got a female vampire partner. He's more credible. His super abilities are that he's very strong.

Hello everyone,

Le 1er avril nous sommes allés au cinématographe pour une séance du film Frankenstein de John Whale de 1931.

Prochainement nous vous raconterons comment s'est déroulée la sortie et nous vous ferons un petit compte rendu de l'intervention de Nicolas Thevenin qui est venu au collège avant et après la projection pour nous dévoiler les secrets du film.

FRANKENSTEIN: DU LIVRE AU FILM

1ère séance: Le 25 mars, avec Nicolas Thévenin, nous avons vu l'extrait du début du film de Frankenstein. Nicolas nous a parlé de l'adaptation du roman au film de Frankenstein et nous avons regardé quelques bande-annonces d'autres films fantastiques. Il nous a montré des affiches de Frankenstein de différents pays, et aussi 2 affiches des metteurs en scène (car c'est une adaptation d'une pièce adaptée du livre de M. Shelley). En 1931, le film de Frankenstein à eu énormément de succès car ça a été le premier film fantastique et il n'y avait pas si longtemps qu'avait eu lieu une crise économique.

2ème séance: Le 1er avril, nous sommes allés voir le film Frankenstein et à la fin de ce film, nous sommes montés dans la cabine de projection avec un membre de l'association. Elle nous a présenté les modes modes de projection et les pellicules qui servent à diffusé le film.

3ème séance: Le 8 avril, Nicolas Thévenin est revenu nous poser quelques questions à propos du film (comme par exemple où nous pensions que se déroulait l'histoire du film?). Il nous a aussi montré une pellicule de film et donné quelques informations sur comment on s'en sert.

Tout s'est déroulé dans la bonne humeur et nous sommes heureux d'avoir découvert le cinéma sous un angle différent.

Du 11 décembre au 17 décembre s'est déroulé le festival du film Britannique à Nantes au Katorza. La classe de quatrième euro s'est rendue à la séance d'un film en compétition "The Papadopoulos". On a pu rencontré Agnès Blandeau qui s'occupe de la programmation du festival et qui nous a parlé de sa mission à la fin de la séance. 

Même si le festival est terminé nous vous proposons un petit flashback sur ce film très intéressant et sur la rencontre.

I- The Papadopoulos

Harry a successful greek businessman in London loses his company because of the economical crisis. He finds his brother Spiros and together they re-open the family fish and chips shop. The movie is a dramatic comedy.

Spiros is funny and insightful whereas Harry is the opposite very serious except at the end. The end of the movie was very moving because the hero found his family with whom he had lost touch. He understood that money wasn't always a synonym for success. Money can't buy you happiness.

Harry un homme d'affaire Grec vivant à Londres qui réussissait jusque là, perd sa compagnie à cause de la crise économique. Il retrouve son frère et ensemble ils vont réouvrir le restaurant de Fish and chips familial.Ce film est une comédie dramatique.

Le frère de Harry Spiros est un personnage drôle, attachant et profond alors que Harry lui est le contraire, il est très sérieux sauf à la fin. La fin du film etait vraiment émouvante car le héro retrouve sa famille avec qui il avait perdu le contact. Il a compris que l'argent n'est pas toujours synonyme de succès et ne fait pas toujours le bonheur.

II- The British film festival

 We went to see the Papadopoulos at the Katorza for the British film festival.

 We have interviewed the scheduler of the festival, Agnès Blandeau. She told us about the organisation of the festival :

 «We must take contact with the director of the movie many months before the starting of the festival to ask them if we can play their film at the cinema.»

 They make a preselection of 20 or 30 movies and keep one tenth. Many kind of films are represented : thrillers, comedies, dramas... The films are in competition and they are not known in France.

Translation:

[...] Agnès Blandeau : Sometimes it can take several months before you have an answer from film directors because during summer they might be shooting or they are simply unavailable. Some respond immediately others a little later. It really rushes around the months of September and October.

Question: Is there each year enough films for the festival?

A.Blandeau: Oh yes there are a lot because we we have selected many movies but sometimes we have no answers from the film directors. For example sometimes you want a film, but we have no response from the film directors or they tell us that this is not possible because the film won't be ready for December.

Question: And how many films do you see and how many do you select each year?

A.Blandeau: We can see around three dozen movies and we will only select a dozen since there are four in competition today and there are three new films so we selected seven of them.

The films have never been released in France and have been subtitled by two professional translators. The judges are qualified students. There are two other festival apart from the British one, the German one and one Italian. Once the best film of each festival has been chosen, there is a re-election to which film is best. Whoever wins the contest wins 1300 euros.

Agnès Blandeau : Il faut parfois plusieurs mois avant d'avoir une réponse des réalisateurs parce que durant l'été ils peuvent être en tournage ou alors ils ne sont tout simplement pas disponible. Certains répondent tout de suite d'autres un peu plus tard. Cela se précipite vraiment au alentour des mois de septembre et octobre.

Question: Est-ce qu'il y a chaque année assez de films pour faire le festival ?

A.Blandeau : Oh oui, il y en beaucoup parce que justement nous on en a sélectionné beaucoup mais on n'a pas toujours des réponses des réalisateurs. Par exemple des fois on veut des films mais nous n'avons aucune réponse du réalisateur ou ils nous disent que ce n'est pas possible car le film ne sera toujours pas terminer en décembre.

Question : Et vous voyez combien de films et vous en gardez combien chaque année ?

A.Blandeau : On en voit à peu près une trentaine et on en garde une petite dizaine puisque là les films en compétition sont au nombre de quatre mais il y a trois films inédits donc on en a gardé sept. Les films n'ont jamais été distribués en France et ont été sous-titrés par deux traductrices professionnelles. Les juges sont des étudiants qui sont qualifiés. Il y a deux autres festivals a part celui Britannique, celui Allemand et celui Italien. Une fois que le meilleur film de chaque festival a était choisi, il y a une réélection pour s'avoir lequel des films est le mieux. Celui qui gagne le concours gagne 1300 euros.

Jet FM - December 20th 

The students went to jet fm on Friday afternoon to record their first radio broadcast. Six of them talked about their meeting with South African musicians at Stereolux in November & how they worked to prepare for the interview. 

So don't forget to listen to them & to their work  on Monday 16th December from 5pm to 6pm on 91,2 fm ! 

The students went to stereolux today to watch Cape Town Effect and meet the musicians for an interview. Here are the first pictures of the concert. 

The students will go to Stereolux on November 5th to watch the concert and interview South African artists. 

The project is called Cape Town Effects, this album was recorded in France in 2012. Three languages are used in this album : Afrikaan, Xhaso and English. Konfab, El Nino, Jaak, Tebz and Spooky are the artists playing and singing in this album.  

The students went to Jet Fm on Thursday afternoon to prepare for their first interview. They learnt how to use the equipment and visited the radio. Here are a few pictures :
